Instructional Chukkas
This is the best way to progress from lessons to matches, with guidance
from professionals playing live polo. It gives the time to improve
technique and build a greater knowledge of the rules of the game.
This can also help to iron out any bad habits picked up from the
previous tournament!
Tuesdays at 4pm. £50 per chukka including horse, £20
on own horse.
Informal Chukkas (Practise)
A casual opportunity to practise the finer arts of polo without tournament
pressures. Located on the Meadow ground or the practise ground,
come along and join in. We try to ensure that teams are balanced
to allow the more experienced players to provide an open and enjoyable
game. This can be thirsty work and can often be followed with a
drink or two afterwards!
Wednesdays at 4pm, Saturday and Sunday.
Matches
The next stage up the polo ladder. Competitive chukkas on our main
full size ground, Burnthill, requires players to be dressed in
polo whites and team shirts, with an umpire and paramedic cover.
Vet and Farrier on standby. With a prize to the winning team.
From £250 per team.
Tournaments
Burningfold, recognised by the HPA, will hold eight tournaments in May, June, July, August and September during 2008. We can organise all aspects of your team and/or help you find a team. The winning however is down to you!
Country House Polo
An invitational polo tournament series organised by the host team,
taking place on private grounds and usually over a weekend incorporating
a bit of a party during the tournament.
Teams must be able to provide their own ground and often accommodate
guest teams, their horses and grooms. The grounds and facilities
at Burningfold can be used.
